Increasing Your Attendance Minimize

Attendance at any meeting you are in charge of:

(Although designed for increasing the attendance of a church--these thoughts can be adapted to include any group you lead)!

2 Pillars of Attendance Growth:

  • Momentum—Growth feeds growth. Getting it and keeping it is hard work!
  • Morale—The attitude of your people when (no one else is around—especially you)!

Give People Something to Come to:

  • Be prepared! The most important thing you do all week is what you do when they all come together.
  • Visualize the entire experience of a worshipper—
o From the time they drive by your church
o To the time they pull into the parking lot
    o Through the doors
    o Where is the nursery?
    o Where are the restrooms?
o What shape are your floor coverings?
o Use your nose—how does your church smell?
o How easy (or hard) is your church to navigate around.
o Go to growing churches and ask yourself the questions above.
  • Honestly evaluate your service—
o What is your music like? (Buy a band)!
o What is the “Spirit” (attitude) of your service like—we must remember that we exist to serve them, they don’t exist to serve us.
o People are desperate for something real. Is your service real? Are the people leading the service real people?
o Does the message give people something that will help their lives? (People are looking for help—they are needy and know it).

Give People Something to Invite Others to Come to:

  • Ask them from time to time—what do we need to do to help you bring your friends here?
  • Institute the mission of “everyone win one once a year.” (10 Most Wanted List)

Make Your Expectation Clear:

  • Give people ways to succeed (in bite size pieces)—do little things to help your people feel successful in their community.

ADVERTISE—it at least gives people something to point to others about!

Make it clear to people what YOU WANT in regard to their efforts—define success to them. Define and communicate purpose to them.
